Boys cross- country team edges Melrose for WCC title
The Benson-KMS cross-country teams competed at the WCC Meet at Sauk Centre, Thursday, and both teams ran exceptionally well, according to their coaches, with the boys team winning the WCC team title by one point over Melrose in an exciting finish and the girls team placing in a tie for second in the girls competition.
“The WCC Meet went extremely well for both varsity teams,” said an elated coach Samantha VanHeuveln. “We were missing our No. 2 guy (Jacob Gareis) due to an injury, but the team rallied together and did their part to bring home the trophy, and the girls also surprised everyone by tying for second behind a strong Minnewaska Area team.”
The Section 6A Boys Cross-Country Meet was set for Tuesday (yesterday) at LPGE, while the girls’ teams are set to compete at NLS, Thursday (tomorrow). The MSHSL decided recently that there would be no state meet this fall...
